The 19th International Symposium – Mine Action 2023

A study visit to Croatia for representatives of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Regional Explosive Hazards Training Centre, and Tajikistan’s National Mine Action Centre ended in Vodice on 8 May 2023. The visit was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.

In Vodice the participants attended the 19th International Symposium – Mine Action 2023 from 3 to 5 May organized by the Croatian Ministry of Interior and Croatian Mine Action Centre – Centre for Testing, Development and Training.

The Symposium gathered 200 participants from 35 countries and significantly contributed to the exchange of experiences on various mine action topics, primarily the emergency response in Ukraine, infrastructure safety concerning explosive remnants of war, mine victims’ assistance, and new technologies in mine action. The Symposium offered a unique platform for discussion on challenges and opportunities, as well as an insight into the latest technologies and equipment available in mine action.

On the 2nd and 8th of May, Tajik representatives also had bilateral meetings with the Ministry of Interior and the Croatian Mine Action Centre – Centre for Testing, Development, and Training to get acquainted with the structure, organization, and results of the work of the Croatian institutions operating in mine action.
