A five day Regional Course Training of Trainers for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Level 1 was organised by the OSCE POiD the Integrated Cooperation on Explosive Hazards Programme for some twenty participants and instructors working at the national armed forces, national mine action co-ordination authorities as well as supporting agencies from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Tajikistan, in Dushanbe, 24-28 June 2019. Four participants from Ukraine took part in the regional course for the first time, as part of continuation of co-operation between OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine and OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and confirmed their participation at all Integrated Cooperation on Explosive Hazards Programme’s courses planned for 2019.

This is a step towards strengthening mutually beneficial regional and international co-operation of Central Asian States, Ukraine and Croatia, to jointly tackle threats affecting all of the countries. The course was supported by our local and international partners, OSCE-PCU and the in-kind assistance provided by experts from the Croatian Mine Action Centre, Norwegian People’s Aid and Mine Information Application, who contributed to the execution of the course in its current format, with an aim to build national and regional capacities together with OSCE POiD.

This course aimed to develop the participants’ knowledge on developing and delivering training courses in the field of explosive ordnance disposal in accordance with the international standards. In addition, it provided guidance for the participants that can help them to identify and analyse training needs, design training techniques and tools, methods and skills to support the trainers in the training process.
