Basic EOD Training Strengthens Tajikistan’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Capacity
A two-week (18-30 August, 2025) Basic Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) training for 14 people (all men) from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense, Border Troops, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense was completed on 30 August in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO), Tajikistan.
This training, designed to enhance practical skills and knowledge, was delivered jointly by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) training officers and the Regional Explosive Hazards Training Centre (REHTC) under Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense officers.
The training program equipped participants with essential EOD skills and knowledge, adhering to international standards. Participants received instruction in key areas such as explosives theory, EOD safety protocols, and effective disposal methods.
A significant component of the training involved practical exercises, which were designed to provide participants with invaluable hands-on experience. These exercises were critical for developing proficiency in basic EOD procedures, including the accurate recognition of explosive hazards, the identification of explosive ordnance, and the safe demarcation of hazardous areas. This practical focus ensures that the skills learned translate directly to real-world scenarios.
This initiative strengthens Tajikistan’s capacity to respond to explosive threats effectively. It also demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting peace, regional security, and international cooperation in the crucial area of explosive hazards reduction.
The collaborative effort between the POiD and REHTC exemplifies the importance of partnerships in building national capacity and fostering a safer environment.
