The regional three-week Explosive Ordnance Disposal course (EOD Level 2) for the EOD specialists from Tajikistan

On 11 October 2021, Ambassador Valeriu Chiveri, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, together with the partners from Tajikistan’s Defence Ministry and the United States Embassy in Dushanbe launched the regional three-week Explosive Ordnance Disposal course (EOD Level 2) for the EOD specialists from Tajikistan and Central Asian countries. The course will be held at the Regional Explosive Hazards Training Centre of Tajikistan’s Defence Ministry in Chimteppa.

The course aims to develop the competences and enhance the qualifications of the military personnel from Central Asia in detecting and identifying explosive ordnances as well as determining when they can be safely moved and transported. It also aims to develop their skills to simultaneously implement the destruction of multiple ordnances using the line and ring chains of individual mines. The opening ceremony was attended by Major General Sayorabek Bachabekzoda, Head of Engineering Department of Tajikistan’s Defence Ministry, Lieutenant-Colonel Vitaly Gelfgat, Chief of the Office of Military Co-operation at the United States Embassy in Dushanbe, and Major General Muhabbat Ibrohimzoda, Director of Tajikistan National Mine Action Centre.
